Ephesus: Passion was Lost – Fires of Satan’s Aspiration to be worshipped!

Smyrna: Persecution from the Idolaters - Fires of Satan’s Opposition to pure worship!

Pergamos: Penetration of Worldliness – Fires of Satan’s Temptation to pagan worship!

Worldliness – an infatuation or obsession with the physical side of life, that places anything on earth above or before the things of eternity!

I. Getting Aquatinted – Revelation 2:12 - And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

I Peter 4:17 - For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

Hebrews 4:12 - “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Revelation 19:15 – And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
