The Book of the Revelation Chapter 1

3 MESSAGES IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION:

1. PAST - THINGS WHICH THOU HAST SEEN – Chapter1

2. PRESENT - THINGS WHICH ARE - Chapters. 2-3

3. FUTURE - THINGS WHICH SHALL BE HEREAFTER - Chapters. 4-22

I. Revealing - Revelation 1:1-

1. The Source of the Revelation - “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him”

2. The Substance of the Revelation - “to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;”

John 9:4 - I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Matthew 24:42 - Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

3. THE SPOKESMAN OF THE REVELATION -   “and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.”

II. Reading - Revelation 1:3

II Timothy 2:15 - Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Proverbs 2:6 - For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Psalms 119:11 - Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

1. Blessed Is He That “Undertakes the Reading” - “Blessed is he that readeth,”

2. Blessed Is He That “Understands the Hearing” - “and they that hear the words of this prophecy,”

3. Blessed Is He That “Upholds the Revealing” - “and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”

Revelation 3:3 - Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Luke 12:34 - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. 37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. 38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.  39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. 40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

II Timothy 4:8 - Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
