Denying the Power Thereof! II Timothy 3:1
II Timothy 3:1 - This know also, that in the last days
perilous times shall come. (Vices) 2 For men shall be lovers of their own
selves, covetous, (Vocal) boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, (Vile) unholy, 3 Without natural affection, (Violent) trucebreakers,
false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4
Traitors, heady, highminded, (Vacationers) lovers of pleasures more than lovers
of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such
turn away.
I. Religion is the Scam - 5 Having a form of godliness,

As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for
the sheep.

we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
II. Refusing the Source - but denying the power thereof:

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,
and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Luke 10:27 - And he answering said, Thou shalt love the
Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy
strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. 28 And he said
unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
II Corinthians 6:1 - We then, as workers together with him,
beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 (For he saith,
I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I
succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of
salvation.) 3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: 4
But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience,
in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 5 In stripes, in imprisonments,
in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; 6 By pureness, by knowledge,
by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, 7 By the
word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right
hand and on the left,
III. Rejection is the Solution - from such turn away.

away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

- Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.
II Corinthians 13:4 - For though he was crucified through
weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we
shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
